I probably have 14 incubators at this point. I started with the old style where you had to turn them yourself. It was basically just a heater in a box.
And now after all these years and so many tries, I finally found one that I can set and forget.
I've done nothing for it this week. I truly have set it and it's one it's way.
I do check to see that it's still functioning and look in on the eggs, temperature, etc. It's always perfect. I hear the eggs being turned every couple of hours and the low hum of the heater. It's very quiet.
My other incubators have said they had automatic humidity control, but none have done it. This DOES! When it dips down below the humidity setting, I watch the little wheel turn that moves water forward. It drops just a few little drops of water into the well and within a minute or so the humidity is right back where it should be.
It's FANTASTIC!
The customer service is over-the-top good! They made sure my problem was resolved. They were so quick to reply. They wanted pictures, video and descriptions of the problem which they sent to their team to look over. Then they sent back suggestions. They kept at it until the problem was resolved.
****Here's something I learned that you should definitely take note of if you get this incubator.
The suction to pull the water in takes forever to pull the water up the tiny tube and into the incubator. Once it's full it's perfect. However, this can burn out your motor. I could smell it a bit while I was waiting for it to fill.
So I figured out how to avoid that. I actually pre-filled the tube with water before assembling it. Then stuck the already full tubing into the bottle (fill it completely full) filled with water.
Once you do that, the motor only has to turn a couple of times to drop water in to keep it at the correct humidity.
Because the machine is so sensitive as to the humidity, it can't be pulling the water in with high force. It's a gentle force. It's too gentle to pull the water all the way inside. Make sure that your water bottle is set far enough away that the tube doesn't have any kinks as it enters the water bottle. That may cause an issue later on.
This will be the only hiccup you will have with this machine I bet.
It's beautiful, clean, easy to see the chicks and holds a good amount of eggs. Or you can just incubate 1 or 2 if you want. So versatile
If you are in to dry hatching, you can do that with this machine as well. Just set the bottom threshold of your humidity nice and low. If it gets too low, it will add just enough drops to bring it back up.
My only suggestion at this point for the company would be to include my suggestions in their instructions for watering and to make the top just a little taller. The barely hatched chicks were too tall to stand up all the way when they are under the motor portion of the top. They are fine around the perimeter, but if you have a lot of chicks in there then some of them will be under that section and will have to duck to walk around.
Other than that, it's GOLDEN!
